Frequently asked questions
Everything you want to know before you start.
What is FLICK?
A dating and going-out app for the LGBTQ+ community: a grid of nearby profiles, end-to-end encrypted messages, discussion communities and what’s on at the venues in your city.
Is it free?
Yes. FLICK is free and has no ads.
Who can sign up?
Any adult (18 or over) who identifies with the LGBTQ+ community. Your age is asked when you sign up.
Can others see my exact location?
No. Your location is rounded to a 500 m area before it’s saved, and your exact position is never stored. Our servers order the grid so that you can’t be located by cross-checking.
Who can read my messages?
Only you and the person you’re writing to. Messages are encrypted on your phone with the Signal protocol; our servers only carry unreadable data.
How do I use FLICK discreetly?
In the settings, change the app icon (calculator, weather, calendar…), turn on a passcode and hide message previews in notifications.
How do I report or block someone?
From their profile or your conversation, open the menu and choose “Report” or “Block”. Blocking is mutual and immediate; every report is reviewed by the moderation team.
How do I delete my account?
From the app settings, at any time. Your profile disappears and your data is erased according to our privacy policy.
Why an APK file? Is it safe?
Until it’s published on the stores, FLICK can be installed on Android from an APK file downloaded from this site. Only install it from this site: the Download page shows its SHA-256 fingerprint and that of the signing certificate, so you can check the file really comes from us.
What about iPhone?
The iPhone version is on its way. The App Store button on the Download page will be enabled as soon as it’s out.
Where is FLICK available?
FLICK is launching first in Paris, with the community’s venues. The app works everywhere; more cities will follow.
I run a venue or an association. How do I join FLICK?
Go to the “For venues” page and write to us: we verify the venue, then open its official page, managed from the app or the web studio.
