Safety and privacy

Your safety is not optional.

Being yourself should never be a risk. At FLICK, privacy guides every technical decision, and our members’ safety comes before everything else.

Protected by design

What the app does for you, with nothing to set up.

End-to-end encryption

Messages, photos and voice notes are encrypted on your phone with the Signal protocol. Our servers cannot read them.

Blurred location

Your location is rounded to a 500 m area before it’s saved. Your exact position is never stored.

Anti-tracking

The grid order is computed by our servers and suspicious movements are detected, so nobody can be found by cross-checking.

On-device moderation

Sensitive photo detection runs directly on your phone. No photo is sent to an analysis service.

Discreet icon

Swap FLICK’s icon for a calculator, a weather app or a calendar, and notifications take the same name.

Passcode

Lock the app with a code or your biometrics, and hide its content in the app switcher.

Notifications under control

Choose whether message content is shown or hidden on your lock screen.

Minimal data

No ads, no trackers, no data resale. You can delete your account at any time from the app.

Tips for safe dating

A few simple habits the community has always passed on.

  1. 1

Take time to get to know each other

Chat a little before meeting up. A quick video call lets you check the person matches their photos.

  2. 2

First date in a public place

A bar, a café, somewhere you know. Stay in control of how you get there and back.

  3. 3

    Tell someone you trust

Let a friend know where you’re going, who with, and when you plan to be home.

  4. 4

    Protect your information

Don’t share your address, bank details or any code. Nobody acting in good faith will ask you for money.

  5. 5

    Consent and health

Consent is given, checked and can be withdrawn at any time. Think prevention: condoms, PrEP, regular testing.

  6. 6

    Trust your gut

If something makes you uncomfortable, leave. Block and report the profile: our team reviews every report.

Report and block

From a profile or a conversation, report a behaviour and give the reason, then block the person: you both disappear from each other’s grid and messages. Reports are reviewed by the moderation team.
